# The Vessim app, in 42 seconds

A real screen recording of the Vessim app, with no voiceover: a sentence typed into the search, the answer that fits it, why it is the answer, every seller of one product with a price watch, two products compared, and a photo search that finds the same product by its fingerprint. It runs 42 seconds; recorded October 26, 2026.

## Transcript

[0:00] The app opens on its home screen. A headline asks “What are you looking for?”, over the line “Say it the way you would to a person. We find every store that sells it, and the cheapest one that fits.” The search box reads “a backpack under $25”. Below it, “What can I ask?” cards each show a real search and its count: “a backpack under $25”, 20 matches from $4.21; “ski goggles under $15”, 4 matches from $10.00; “a metal sign that ships from the US”, 6 matches from $9.00.

[0:03] The sentence is typed into the search a letter at a time, and the results change with every letter. From “a”, products appear with their prices. At “a ba” the suggested searches read “ba under $8”, 47 matches, and “ba that ships from the US”, 17 matches; at “a backpack”, “backpack under $8”, 10 matches, and “backpack that ships from the US”, 1 match. Half-typed, “a backpack under $2” briefly reads “No single seller meets everything”.

[0:06] The sentence is complete and the answer settles. It has become chips: “Looking for backpack” and “Under $25”, with an empty “+ Ships from” beside them. “20 products match.” The first answer is the Mountaineering Leisure And Tactical High-Capacity Backpack For Men And Women, marked “Cheapest that fits · 2 sellers”, at $19.10 from CJ Dropshipping, shipping from China, with both sellers’ prices as chips. Under it, “19 more matches” begins with the Business Travel And Commute Lightweight Shoulder Backpack at $4.21.

[0:09] “Why this?” opens a panel headed “Each thing you asked, and how it was met”, with three ticks. “You asked for ‘backpack’: every word appears in the product’s title. We ranked it first of 20 matches because it is sold by 2 sellers, which gives you the most to compare.” “Price at or under $25: CJ Dropshipping sells it for $19.10, $5.90 under your limit.” “The same product, every seller: we matched 2 sellers by their photos: listings whose 64-bit photo fingerprints are within 10 bits are treated as one product. A matching photo is strong evidence, not proof of the same pack size or colour.” At its foot: “Nothing here is sponsored. Some links earn us a commission, which never changes the answer or the order.”

[0:13] The panel closes. The pointer passes over the two sellers’ price chips, both CJ Dropshipping at $19.10, then a click on the product’s title opens its page.

[0:16] The product’s own page: “2 sellers · same price everywhere · ships from China, China → the US”, the chips “Item: backpack” and “Price ≤ $25”, “Cheapest that fits”, $19.10 at CJ Dropshipping, and the buttons “Go to the cheapest seller” and “Watch this price”. Scrolling down, “Every seller, cheapest first” lists both CJ Dropshipping listings at $19.10, each “delivery not reported”, then “How we know these are the same product”, a price history with “One reading so far: $19.10 on October 23, 2026”, and “About the seller”.

[0:19] Hovering the photo turns it into its fingerprint, the grid of bits it was matched by. “Watch this price” opens a small form with an alert price of $17.19; once set, the button reads “Watching · alert at $17.19”. The product is then added to compare from its own page, and its Compare button reads “Comparing”.

[0:24] Back on the results, the $4.21 Business Travel backpack is added to compare from the list, and the tray at the foot of the page reads “Compare 2”.

[0:28] The compare view, “Comparing 2 · Which one?”, “Judged on price, sellers and where it ships from.” Its verdict: “Best for you: B, Business Travel And Commute Lightweight Shoulder Backpack. $4.21 at CJ Dropshipping: the lowest price of the 2.” A table puts the two side by side: lowest price $19.10 and $4.21, 2 sellers and 1, both cheapest at CJ Dropshipping, both shipping from China and China → the US, delivery not reported for either, and a “Go to seller” button under each.

[0:35] The photo search opens, “Find who sells it: paste a product link, or use a photo. The photo is fingerprinted on this device and never uploaded.” A photo, photo.jpg, is dropped in. Its fingerprint appears as a grid with its 16 hex characters, and the answer: “Found it. One product in the index has this photo.” It is the same Mountaineering backpack, $19.10, 2 sellers, “identical photo”.

[0:39] The end card: the wordmark vessim.com and the line “Say what you want. Get exactly that.”
