# False match

Two different products wrongly treated as the same one. The mistake Vessim works hardest to avoid. Measured on 60 real product photos, the line Vessim uses made zero false matches across 1,762 pairs of different products. As of October 23, 2026, the closest two different products in the index sit 12 bits apart, past the 10-bit line.

## Why it matters at Vessim

One false match would show you a different product at a lower price, which is worse than showing nothing.
